How We Earn From This Site
Wholesome Food Life is an independent recipe and home cooking website. To keep our content free for readers, we rely on a combination of advertising, affiliate partnerships, and occasional sponsored content. This Advertising Policy explains how those relationships work, what they mean for you as a reader, and how we keep our editorial decisions honest.
If you have questions about anything in this policy, please contact us.
Display Advertising
We display advertisements on the Site through advertising networks, including Google AdSense. These ads may appear in various locations, such as within articles, in sidebars, in headers and footers, and between sections of a recipe or post.
Advertising networks use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, including ads personalized to your interests based on your browsing activity on this Site and across the web. We do not control which specific ads appear on any given page — these are selected and served by the advertising network in real time.
For more information on how Google uses data when you use our Site, please see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
To learn how to manage or opt out of personalized advertising, please see our Cookie Policy.
Affiliate Marketing
Wholesome Food Life participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means we earn small commissions when you click an affiliate link on our Site and make a qualifying purchase. There is no additional cost to you when you use these links — the price you pay is the same as if you went directly to the seller.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
We may also participate in other affiliate programs, including but not limited to programs run by kitchen equipment makers, cookware brands, ingredient suppliers, and food retailers.
How We Choose Affiliate Products
We only recommend products we have personally used or that have a strong reputation among home cooks we trust. When we link to a product as an affiliate, we do so because we believe the product is relevant to our readers and worth considering — not simply because the program pays a commission.
If we recommend a product, you can assume that:
- We’ve used it ourselves, or
- It’s a widely recognized standard in the home cooking community, or
- We’ve researched it carefully and would consider buying it ourselves.
We do not recommend products solely because of the commission rate.
Sponsored Content
From time to time, we may publish sponsored content — articles, recipes, or product placements that are paid for by a brand. When we do, we follow these principles:
- Clear disclosure. Sponsored content is clearly labeled at the top of the post (for example, “Sponsored by [Brand]” or “This post is sponsored by [Brand]”). We do not hide sponsorship.
- Editorial standards. Sponsored content is held to the same editorial standards as the rest of the Site. We do not publish sponsored content we don’t believe is genuinely useful or interesting to our readers.
- Honest opinions. If we don’t think a product is good, we don’t write about it — even if we’ve been offered payment.
- No editorial influence. Sponsorship of one post does not influence our editorial coverage in other posts. We do not promise positive coverage as part of any sponsorship arrangement.
Product Reviews and Free Samples
Brands and PR agencies sometimes send us free product samples for editorial consideration. Receiving a free sample never guarantees a positive review or any coverage at all. If we choose to write about a product we received for free, we will disclose that the product was provided by the brand.
FTC Disclosure Compliance
We make these disclosures because we want to be transparent with our readers, and because the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that “material connections” between an endorser and the seller of an advertised product be clearly and conspicuously disclosed.
You can read more about the FTC’s endorsement guidelines on the FTC’s website.
In line with these guidelines:
- We disclose affiliate relationships in our posts.
- We disclose sponsored content at the top of any sponsored post.
- We disclose when a product was sent to us for free.
- This Advertising Policy provides a sitewide disclosure for general advertising and affiliate practices.
Editorial Independence
Our recipes, cooking guides, and product recommendations are not for sale. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage of a product, recipe, or technique.
Our advertising relationships, affiliate partnerships, and sponsorships do not influence:
- Which recipes we develop or publish
- The editorial opinions of our writers and editors
- Which products we recommend in non-sponsored posts
- The way we test or evaluate products
For more on how we develop and review our content, please read our Editorial Policy.
